What is the theme 'Drape' all about?
Howdy, lets start with talking about brouhaha of the theme.

We are moving towards Westernization, often blind, with changing lifestyles which merely copies eating habits, dressing style, outing habits, and almost everything around. But what most people never realize that howsoever and whatsoever they may copy, tinge of their roots can not and never erode. The root, the origin from where you come from, is an identity and fight for protecting their identities has a long-long history.
The center of these roots and origin in our tradition is a woman. Amidst this blind westernization, women have rather been more polarized to change than compared to man. And paradoxically, women hold deeper roots in their roots, origin and culture, and more than men.
In an intent to portray this concept, I worked with a woman as a subject with just a West Bengali-sari drape which powerfully portrays a traditional woman who is static amidst Westernized and modernized lavish place. This tries to capture contrast of the subject compared to the nearby outer-westernized (and cool kinda!!!) surroundings.
Why in boudoir?
Well, many people have asked me (read bothered me :P) "Why boudoir!!! Well, let talk about it. Lets talk about Nudity.
Nudity is the most natural form a being can be in and skin is the most natural attire one can wear. The traditional woman, from my perception, are dressed in most simple dresses and attires yet to everyone's surprise, they look majestic, responsible, beautiful and sensual.
Sensual does not always mean sexual tinge, which often people stereotype, it is about the intimidating personality and the way one carries herself in that.
Without any facial makeups, any expensive hair dos, or expensive jewellery, a woman, wrapped in just an sari looks minimalistic yet majestic. And hence the choice of it as boudoir-nude art.
What it took to execute it?
Apart from all the financial expenses, there was a huge sum of efforts, both physical and mental, time, experiments and will to create authentic picture was the price.
The plan was to start from the evening to capture the sunset as well as the darkness of the night from that huge window. The lightings, although very minimal, some from the room itself and an external basic lamp was used.
The model wore just a piece of Bengali-sari as a drape across her waist. Since, the makeup and accessories were almost nil, it required little time to get shoot ready.
What did it produce?
From a huge window on the top floor,
In a incandescent lit room and the sunset it score,
With see-through glasses all around and a carpet floor,
In a wait to portray and self-explore,
On a leather couch with a glass of red wine,
With her thoughts of the changes in time,
From her ways in villages to cities and towns,
From smirk and smile and anger and frown,
With her sagacious home-town nostalgia,
Describing the picturesque beauty she beholds,
Mesmerizing curves and ample bosoms she foretold,
She sat naked with dusky sunlight glittering her skin,
She sat naked with her pristine body and divine soul,
She sat naked with dreams in her eyes and plan in her thoughts.
